Upgrading to Joomla 5

Upgrading from Joomla 4.4.x to 5.x is straightforward. Most Joomla 4 extensions that have updated code will work with Joomla 5, and others will be compatible with the new Backward Compatibility Plugin.

For detailed upgrade steps, visit: Joomla 4.4.x to 5.x Upgrade Guide

Note: We recommend testing the upgrade on a copy of your production site first. Joomla 4.4 will be supported for another 2 years, so there's no immediate rush to upgrade. Some extensions may not yet be ready for Joomla 5, though many developers offer Joomla 5 test versions.
